The Dome Project
The DOME PROJECT is a cross-cultural, cross-media umbrella project that maps, connects and empowers solidarity initiatives that respond to the most urgent challenges and transformations across Euro-MENA. The DOME PROJECT perceives solidarity as the exercise of political awareness, engagement and active citizenship, seeking to promote key actors and best practices that respond to escalating issues across the region in a trasformative, sustainable and inclusive manner.
The DOME PROJECT consists of 3 basic elements:
– DOME EVENT (http://thedomeevent.net) is the annual interdisciplinary event of the DOME PROJECT. Each year, it introduces a different socio-political priority issue from the perspective of solidarity, opening a space for awareness, networking, knowledge exchange and intervention through its interdisciplinary slate of activities. DOME EVENT 2016 focused on the refugee issue, highlighting and promoting inspiring stories and good-practices of solidarity with and by refugees in Euro-MENA. DOME EVENT 2017 will be dedicated to Media Freedom.
– DOME PROJECT SATELLITE ACTIVITIES are smaller-scale activities around priority issues originally introduced during the DOME EVENT. They reflect the DOME PROJECT’s dynamic, long-term engagement with these issues in a sustainable, inclusive and decentralised manner, with the active participation of the target-populations.
– DOME NETWORK OF AMBASSADORS (http://thedomeproject.net/get-involved.html) is a newly established network of dedicated cultural practitioners, human rights advocates, social researchers and media professionals with the mission to research and promote good practices of solidarity through mapping, reporting and advocacy activities.
